This is not an historical account of the life of Moses or a factual report of the Exodus of the Children of Israel from Egypt but a work of fiction which focuses on the political implications of two contenders to a throne and the age-old machinations of politicians.

From a psychological point of view the main character illustrates how human beings are influenced by predictions and prophecies, often acting to ensure the outcome. The danger of blindly accepting words spoken by others – as in the case of Shakespeare’s Macbeth – is highlighted.

The role of religion in controlling the human mind is a recurring theme. Although set against a biblical background, the theme of manipulating and controlling the minds of others by their own superstitions, aspirations, needs and fears, is a universal one. The author maintains that the human mind is selective and registers only those facts which confirm a chosen belief.

The author scrutinizes historically accepted Judaeo-Christian perceptions and interpretations of certain events. By not questioning the actions or doctrines – political or religious – of their leaders, people accept and live in bondage.
